About Edit PDF Text
Fix a typo, a date, a price or a name inside a PDF without Acrobat. Click any line of text and type over it: Kitbly finds the exact position, size and colour of the original words, covers them and writes your new text in the closest matching standard font (Helvetica, Times or Courier, bold or italic). PDF forms work too – type into the fields, tick the boxes and pick options, then download the filled PDF. Everything happens in your browser, so the PDF is never uploaded, and there's no watermark.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes. Free with no sign-up, no watermark and no hidden limits on pages or files beyond what your device can handle.
Are my files uploaded?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser – your file never leaves your device and works even with a weak connection once the page has loaded.
Is the old text really removed?
The old words are covered with the page's background colour and the new text is written on top, so it looks and prints right. The original letters are still inside the file underneath – don't use it to hide secret information.
Will the font match?
The size, position, colour and style (bold, italic, serif or not) are copied. PDFs usually contain only the letters they use, so your new text is written in the closest standard font; Korean, Chinese, Japanese and other scripts are added as a sharp text image.
Can I fill in a PDF form?
Yes. Standard PDF forms (AcroForms) open with typeable fields, checkboxes, radio buttons and lists. Older XFA forms are not supported.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
A scan is a picture with no text to click. Run it through OCR PDF first, or cover and retype with the PDF Editor.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
Unlock the PDF first with our Unlock PDF tool (you need to know the password), then come back.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac.
