Answer a few questions to get a suggested term for your deal, compare all terms in one chart, and send the term straight to the landed cost calculator. Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between FOB and FCA?

With FOB the risk passes when the goods are on board the ship; with FCA when they are handed to the buyer’s carrier, e.g. at the container terminal. For containers FCA fits better.

Who pays the freight under CIF?

The seller pays the sea freight and minimum insurance to the destination port, but the risk passes to the buyer once the goods are on board at origin.

Which Incoterm is best for a beginner exporter?

Often FCA (you hand over in your own country) or, if the buyer wants a delivered price, DAP. Avoid DDP unless you can deal with taxes in the buyer’s country.

Do Incoterms say when ownership passes?

No. They cover delivery, costs and risk – not payment or ownership. Those belong in the sales contract.

Is the Incoterms 2020 Guide free?

Yes, completely free with no signup and no daily limit.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in any modern browser on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac.
