About Import Duty & Landed Cost Calculator
Enter what you pay for the goods, the Incoterm on the invoice (FOB, CIF, EXW, DAP …), the freight and insurance, and the duty and VAT / GST rates. The calculator works out the customs value on a CIF or FOB basis, the import duty, any surcharge, the import VAT and your broker and port costs, then shows the total landed cost and the cost per unit – with and without the VAT you can reclaim. Country presets fill in typical VAT rates for Korea, the USA, the EU, the UK, China, Japan and more; they are a starting point to check, not official rates. Links take you to the official tariff sites (UNI-PASS, US HTS, EU TARIC) for the real duty of your HS code.
Frequently asked questions
How is import duty calculated?
Customs value × duty rate. Most countries use the CIF value (goods + freight + insurance to the border); the USA, Canada and Australia use the FOB value.
How is import VAT calculated?
Usually (customs value + duty) × VAT rate. Korea, for example, charges 10 % on CIF value plus duty.
Are the rates official?
No. Presets are typical figures to save typing. The real duty depends on the exact HS code, the origin of the goods, trade agreements and the date – always check the official tariff or your customs broker.
What is landed cost?
Everything it costs to get the goods into your warehouse: the goods, freight, insurance, duty, taxes and fees. Divide by the units to price them correctly.
