How to use the CBM Calculator
- Enter the cartons – Length, width, height and how many.
- See the CBM – Cubic metres, cubic feet, weight and freight tons.
- Fill a container – See how full a 20ft or 40ft would be, then plan it in 3D.
About CBM Calculator
Enter the length, width and height of your cartons in centimetres, millimetres, metres, inches or feet, plus how many you have, and get the total volume in cubic metres (CBM) and cubic feet straight away. Add several carton sizes, the weight of each carton, and see the total weight, the freight tons used for sea LCL (weight or measure, whichever is higher) and how full a 20ft, 40ft, 40ft high cube and 45ft container would be. One tap sends your cartons to the 3D container loading planner.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate CBM?
Length × width × height in metres × the number of cartons. Example: 60 × 40 × 40 cm = 0.6 × 0.4 × 0.4 = 0.096 CBM per carton; 100 cartons = 9.6 CBM.
How many CBM fit in a container?
Inside volume is about 33 CBM for a 20ft, 67 CBM for a 40ft and 76 CBM for a 40ft high cube. With cartons you can usually load about 85 % of that: roughly 28, 58 and 68 CBM.
What is W/M in LCL shipping?
Weight or measure: sea freight for small shipments is charged per freight ton, which is 1 CBM or 1000 kg – whichever gives the bigger number.
How do I convert CBM to cubic feet?
1 CBM = 35.315 cubic feet. 1 cubic foot = 0.0283 CBM.
