What is an FB2 file?
FB2 (FictionBook 2) is an XML e-book format that is the most common e-book format in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan – most Russian-language online libraries offer books as .fb2 or zipped .fbz/.fb2.zip. Kindle, Apple Books and Word can't open it.
My FB2 book is in Windows-1251. Does that work?
Yes. Old FB2 files in Windows-1251 or KOI8-R are detected automatically, so Cyrillic text comes out correctly. Cover pictures and illustrations stored inside the book are kept.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It works in any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook, iPhone and Android. On Android you can also install the free Kitbly app and pick it in “Open with”.
