About Kitbly Send
Kitbly Send moves files directly from one device to another, like handing them over. Pick photos, videos or documents of any size, then share the link, show the QR code or read out the 6-digit code. Your friend opens it on their phone or computer, sees the file names and sizes, and taps Accept. The files go directly between the two devices over an encrypted connection – they are never uploaded to or stored on Kitbly, so there is no size limit and nothing to delete afterwards. It works between iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac and Linux in any modern browser, with no app and no account. Both devices just need to keep the page open until the transfer finishes. Devices on the same Wi-Fi can also find each other automatically, and you can send a short text or link the same way.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free, and is there a size limit?
It is free with no sign-up. Because the files go straight between the two devices and never through our server, there is no size limit – very large files only need time and free space on the receiving device.
Are my files uploaded to Kitbly?
No. Kitbly only helps the two devices find each other. The files go directly between the devices, encrypted (WebRTC with DTLS), and are never stored on Kitbly. We do not see file names or contents.
Why must both devices keep the page open?
The files are sent live from the sender's device, not from a server. If either page is closed, the phone locks or the browser goes to the background for a long time, the transfer stops. Keep both screens on until it says Done.
Does it work on my phone and between iPhone and Android?
Yes. It works in Safari, Chrome, Samsung Internet, Firefox and Edge on iPhone, Android and computers, in any direction.
What if the devices cannot connect?
Some mobile networks and office Wi-Fi block direct connections between devices. Try connecting both devices to the same Wi-Fi, or switch one of them from mobile data to Wi-Fi (or the other way round), then try again.
How long does the code work?
The code works while the sender keeps the page open, for up to 2 hours. Several people can use the same code to receive the same files.
